Divided by the majestic Rocky Mountain, Colorado became the
United States 38th state, August 1st 1876. Colorado is divided into
64 counties all are located in the mountain time zone. Denver is it's
capital and largest city. It's highest point is Mt. Elbert at an
elevation of 14,440 ft., it's lowest elevation is on the Airkaree River
where Yuma and Cheyenne counties join. Colorado has 4 national
parks, 8 national monuments, 2 national recreation areas, 2
national historical sites, 3 national historical trails, 1 national
scenic trail, 2 national grasslands, 42 national wilderness areas, 2
national conservation areas, 8 national wildlife refuge, 44 State
Parks and 307 state wildlife areas.
